The Piano is for Sale by The Arcadia Congregational UCC.
Hallet & Davis, Est. 1843, at 293 Washington Street, Boston, MA. Hallet & Davis pianos were considered one of the high top quality instruments during their hay day.
This piano is totally original including the strings, tuning pins, hammers, dampers and all action felts. The keys are a combination of ivory and ebony. The keys are all in good condition with no splits or cracks on the ivory tops. The soundboard is in good condition with no splits or cracks. The piano is going to require replacing the tuning pins as well as the strings. The tonal quality though is good.
The cabinet is walnut with carvings on both support legs and tracery carving on the front panels. There is also short fluted columns located on each side of the front panel with acanthus leafs on the bottom and a round floral appliqué on top. There is some veneer that has lifted on the top back center of the panel. The side panels have raised burled walnut veneer and there is also some round floral appliqués mounted on the panel. The finish is original in what appears to have been a high gloss finish. There are scratches on the cabinet and a few sections where the edge is missing some wood. The overall condition of the finish however is quite good.
This will make an excellent practice piano for the beginner. Work will be required but it should be a great instrument when completed.
There is a bench that accompanies the piano also.
